Title Capitalization

Title Capitalization

When citations are downloaded from databases, sometimes each word in the title is capitalized. Reference styles have different rules for formatting titles. For example, in APA, titles are cited in lowercase format, aside from the first word and proper nouns. But when citations are downloaded, each word in the title is capitalized.

To change the capitalization of the title in the reference list and modify this in the output style:

1. Open EndNote and go to Tools > Output Styles > Open Style Manager
2. Locate and then double-click to open the style that you use (e.g. APA 7th)
3. Under Bibliography on the left, click on Title Capitalization and change the setting to Sentence style capitalization
4. Click on File > Save As to save a copy of the output style
