PDF Files

This section shows how to manually attach a PDF to an EndNote record and how to annotate a PDF file in EndNote.

Attaching a PDF

Although full-text finder is set up, there are instances when EndNote cannot locate a PDF for a record. In this case, you can manually attach a file to a reference in your EndNote library.

To attach a saved PDF file from your computer to a corresponding record already in EndNote:

1. Highlight the reference that you want to attach to the PDF file
2. Open the Summary of the reference by double-clicking it
3. Select Attach File. The Select a file to link to the reference dialog box will open.
4. Locate the PDF file you would like to attach and select Open
5. Go to the Edit tab and click Save. Note: A paperclip icon should appear next to the reference indicating that the PDF file was successfully uploaded.
