EndNote: Install & Set-Up

A guide to using EndNote, your new favorite citation manager!

Follow these five steps to set up EndNote!

Step One: Download and Install EndNote 20

The Installation Instructions below will guide you through the download and installation process for Duquesne's official version of Endnote 20.

Note: This version of Endnote x20 is downloaded through Box. You will not need to add the license key to activate this version; the license key is already embedded in the installer.

Step Two: Create a New Library

  1. Click "File," then "New..."
  2. Use the default file name or change it, then click save.
  3. The library will open in EndNote.

Step Three: Create a Sync Account

A Sync Account enables your library to sync with Endnote web so you can manage your citations from any device. A sync account is also required to share a library.

Step Four: Setting up Find Full Text

The fourth step is optional, but useful. Find Full Text downloads PDFs from our databases and attaches them to the citations for easy access and offline reading.
