Media Reserves - Requesting an Item from the Patron's View

Gumberg Library houses media equipment form the Media Department at Duquesne. The Media Department owns this equipment, Gumberg Library houses the items, checks them in/out to patrons, inventories the collection, and contacts associated parties when items are missing or broken. Following are the procedures for handling these items.

How a Duquesne User can request an item:

Step 1. On Gumberg website, select the button for Info and Help 

Step 2. Under "For Students" and "For Faculty & Staff.", click on the "Course Reserves & Media Equipment" tab. 

Step 3. Scroll to the bottom of the page to Media Equipment Reserves link to get to the equipment catalog. 

 

 

 

Step 4. Scroll to find items or use drop down under Category. 

  • Click on the item or “Availability” or “Details” links under the item photo 

 

Step 5. Item page opens.  

  • Select time to “reserve” item.  

  • If now, select closest time. If not picking up until later, select time.  

Step 7. The screen scrolls down to selected time. 

  • Click buttons to “Add to Cart” to continue requesting items or “Add to Cart & Checkout” to complete request.  

Step 8. The booking  and terms and conditions page pops up. 

  • Select either Continue button or Add Another Booking button 

Step 9. Fill in email and course info and click the Submit my Booking button. 

The A/V item request has been submitted! You will receive a confirmation email.  

  • Go to the library’s 4th floor circulation desk and ask for items. 

  • Show your confirmation email to the person at the desk. 

  • You will need Duquesne ID or any photo ID to check out items.
