Sierra How-To Guide: Backdating Bookbins

Backdating the Book Drop

We sometimes need to back date the book drop to ensure that users don't pay fines for times when we are closed. We backdate the book drop after holidays and when we empty the bins on Saturday and Sunday morning, to ensure that materials returned after close are not assessed fines.

Selecting the date: To backdate the check-in date, select the Check In function as you would to process book bins. On the left, you will see the Check-In Date listed, as well as a button marked Backdate.

Click the Backdate button. Sierra will prompt you for an override.

Enter your login and password. If you do not have a login, you will need to have another staff member approve.

A calendar will appear. Scroll through the calendar and click the date the items should be checked in.

Click Ok. Process the bookbins as usual.

While holds are a self-service, you may need to add a hold for a user.
