Sierra How-To Guide: Checking In EZBorrow Items

Checking In EZBorrow Items

Items Owned by Another Library (EZBorrow)

When checking in an item that was loaned to our patron through EZBorrow, we use the same check-in screen in Sierra. The main differences from checking in a Gumberg Library owned item are as follows:

  • Instead of scanning the barcode attached to the actual item, we scan the barcode on the blue band wrapped around the cover of the book. An example is shown below:
  • When scanning the barcode, type "'b" before the barcode. Sierra will not recognize the item if "b" is not typed before the barcode. An example of checking an EZBorrow item into Sierra is shown below:
  • Stamp the item "Returned," and place it on the "EZBorrow Returns" shelf in the Circulation Office. An example of what a returned EZBorrow item should look like before going on the "EZBorrow Returns" shelf is shown below:

Once the items are placed on this shelf, they can then be processed in ReShare to be returned to the lending/supplying library. A full-time or part-time staff member should handle this process.
