Women in STEM: Winnie Byanyima

Winnie ByanyimaWinnie Byanyima (1959-) is an aeronautical engineer who is currently working as the executive director of Oxfam International. Byanyima was a flight engineer for Uganda Airlines until the Ugandan Bush War. After the war she became an ambassador and then a member of Parliament. She founded the Forum for Women in Democracy and co-founded the Global Gender and Climate Alliance. She was recently named to a UN panel on access to medicine.
