Women in STEM: Sally Ride

Sally RideSally Ride (1951-2012) was the first American woman in space as well as the youngest. She was a member of the Presidential Commission that investigated the Challenger disaster. After leaving NASA in 1987 she taught physics at UC San Diego and founded Sally Ride Science, which works to interest girls in STEM fields. She won many awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
