Women in STEM: Margaret Hamilton

Margaret HamiltonMargaret Hamilton (1936-) was a computer programmer who led the team that developed the software used in the Apollo moon landing. She coined the term software engineering in order to garner respect for the work she and her fellow programmers were doing. She started her own company, Hamilton Technologies, Inc., in 1986. President Obama awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016.
