Enforced and Involuntary Disappearances: Iraq

In international human rights law, an enforced disappearance occurs when a person is secretly abducted by a state, political organization, or by a third party.

It is estimated that tens of thousands of citizens in Iraq have disappeared during the Anfal genocide, with Human Rights Watch estimating between 50,000 and 100,000 people killed.
