Anfal Campaign - Wikipedia The Al-Anfal campaign was a campaign against Kurdistan in northern Iraq, led by Ali Hassan al-Majid in the final stages of Iran–Iraq War. A series of systematic attacks were made against the Kurdish fighters in northern Iraq, conducted between 1986 and 1989. Human Rights Watch estimates that between 50,000 and 100,000 people were killed during this period.
