This guide defines open science in a higher education setting and provides recommendations on how to implement open science

Role of Students


Collaborating with faculty

  1. Participate in end-of-semester and end-of-year surveys to provide feedback on how well a course implemented open science in its curriculum. 
  2. Voicing concerns and recommendations to faculty boards on what potential open science projects or initiatives should be explored with other communities. 

Being active participants

  1. Creating and maintaining student-run textbooks and other open education resources. 
  2. Forming student clubs, organizations, and committees that are dedicated to open science initiatives.
  3. Sharing research/projects through other means:
    1. Social media
    2. Blog posts
    3. Podcasts

Spreading Awareness

  1. Volunteering in citizen/community science initiatives.
