Role of Faculty
Implementing open science in classes
- Encouraging and supporting student-run textbooks.
- Creating assignments that can be stored and shared by students for future use.
Modifying and adapting existing curriculum
- Faculty boards should meet and discuss an open science framework that is suitable for their respective departments. Each framework should be reviewed periodically to ensure that they are up to date with open science standards.
- Factor in student feedback on how well a course adhered to open science principles in the form of surveys and class discussions.
Collaborating with students and other groups on campus
- Practicing citizen science outside of courses by involving not only students but also communities in projects and research.
