Covidence

The purpose of this guide is to provide tutorials and resources for the standards based review tool, Covidence. This guide is aimed at graduate students, faculty, and others involved in the process who are interested in utilizing Covidence.

Team Review

Since the default setting for Covidence is for two reviewers, you do not need to make any changes to the reviewers required fields. However, you will need to make other changes to fully customize your review.

Follow the instructions below to customize your review settings.

Adding Reviewers

Click the Reviewers tab of the Settings. Here you can see the active reviewers, pending invites, and expired invites.

To invite a new reviewer, click the blue Invite another reviewer button. You will then be prompted to enter their first name and email address.

Once you click Invite, this reviewer will be added into your pending section.

Accepting an Invitation

If you have been invited to collaborate on a systematic review, you will receive an email and be prompted to accept the invitation. Once you click the link you will be prompted to either create a Covidence account or sign in to an existing one. Note: Check your spam and/or junk folder if the invitation doesn't appear in your inbox.

Team Settings

Once all of the members of your team have been added to the review, you can now assign specific roles to specific reviewers if desired. Click Team Settings. There are three sections that have customizable rules: Title and Abstract Screening, Full Text Review, and Extraction. Title and Abstract Screening will automatically be open.

Go to the Rules section. The default will have Everyone can do anything selected. If you want to have a specific reviewer assigned to a role, click the drop down and select their name. You can repeat this process for each of the three sections depending on your review needs.
