The Alliance Française de Pittsburgh, founded in 1903, is a non-profit organization, member of the Federation of Alliances Française in the United States. Its purpose is to encourage the study of French language, literature and culture and to promote activities in the fields of education, the arts and entertainment. The Alliance Française de Pittsburgh is made up over 400 members and offers classes and a variety of social and cultural events and programs in French and in English.

Radio, Television, and Newspapers

Radio France Internationale: Includes audio news with transcripts in simple French.

Le Figaro : The oldest and second-largest national newspaper in France founded in 1826 and published in Paris.

Video Collections

Gumberg Library: The library has a collection of foreign language films. You can search the library catalog using the guided search feature in order to limit by language French and material type DVD.

Department of Modern Languages and Literature: Students can check out foreign films from the Film Library in the Language Lab at no cost. Films are available in DVD and VHS format.

Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh: The Main Library in Oakland as well as some of the branch libraries have an extensive foreign film collections that can be checked out.
