Sierra How-To Guide for Work-Study Students: Renew

Renewing Items in a User Account

Renewals can be processed directly from the Checking Out function. To do this, scan the user's ID and click the Checked-Out Items menu.

Renewing materials: Once in the list, select the items that you wish to renew. To sort by due date or status, click on the header.

Click the check box by each item you wish to renew, then click the Renew button.

A confirmation will appear saying the renewal was successful.

Overdue materials: If the item is delinquent, Sierra will ask how you wish to proceed.

Choose Renew and Add Fine.

Phone renewals: When processing phone renewals, search the user's account by last name

Renewal limits: If the item has already reached its limit for renewals (typically 1-2 renewals, depending on the user and the item), Sierra will request an override.

Do not override unless there is a valid reason to do so! If you don't know how to proceed, ask a staff member for assistance.

A pop-up will appear, asking if you want to renew the item for the patron.
