This guide is for educators whose students are learning how to write using the American Psychological Association (APA) Manual of Style.
APA created Academic Writer to help students learn to write a variety of academic papers in APA Style. Academic Writer provides quick guides, tutorials, sample papers and references as well as a built-in word-processing software with APA formatted paper templates. There are three main functions within Academic Writer: the Learning, Reference, and Writing Centers.
For faculty, you can also investigate integrating Academic Writer into Canvas.
Even though you do not need an account to use Academic Writer, we strongly encourage you and your students to make one. With an account, you can create and manage references in the Reference Center and work on papers in the Writing Center.
HOW TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT:
1. Go to Academic Writer
2. Select "Welcome" > "Login" > "Create an Account"
3. Fill in the required fields and use your Duquesne email
4. Select "Create Account"
