Improve Your Search: A Guide to Search Health Science Literature

A guide to help you search the Health Sciences literature

Why Use Clinical Queries?

A Clinical Query Search on PubMed filters out search results to only those articles that have been deemed to fall under certain categories. The articles defined as clinical queries typically are more professional studies done by researchers in the field. They can also further narrow your results to only a certain category.

There are two types of clinical queries in PubMed:

  • Clinical Studies filter topic searches to a specific category and scope (either broad or narrow) of your choosing. Some categories include therapy, diagnosis, and prognosis.
  •  COVID-19 article filters limit retrieval to citations about the 2019 novel coronavirus within a specific category of your choosing. Some categories include mechanism, transmission, and diagnosis.

You can use Clinical Queries to find more medical-focused clinical results that are typically more suited to topics within a clinical setting.
