NEA Big Read @ Duquesne: Memoir Workshop

Memoir Workshop

Canceled

What is Your Story?

→ How do you preserve a memory?

→ What sensory details does that include?

♦ Some of the best nonfiction writing bares a piece of the writer onto the page. Creative nonfiction is essentially art derived from lived experience.

♦ In this workshop we will explore the characteristics of Creative Nonfiction and discuss how Hope Jahren’s prose exemplifies memoir.

Additionally, we will interrogate how relationship of place informs voice and narrative through a brief creative writing exercise.
