Making Humanities Conference Posters: Using Images

Gumberg Library proudly supports the research and scholarship efforts of our students.

Register to particpate in the 8th Annual Undergraduate Research and Scholarship Symposium by March 10.

The event will be held in the Power Center on April 6, 2016.

Using Images

1. Always use images!

2. But, use images to help tell the story, not just to illustrate it. They must help move the "plot" along (sort of like the pictures in a comic book).
     a. Maps, historical images, charts, etc. show context at a glance.

3. Image selection will depend entirely on your subject and the story you are telling.

4. Good places to look include:
     a. Library of Congress Digital Collections
     b. Digital Public Library of America
     c. Flickr: The Commons
     d. Wikimedia Commons
     e. Google Images (with usage rights ‘for reuse’)
