March 25: EDI & Catholic Teaching

Presentation

we will be discussing The Catholic Church & EDI with University Chaplain and Director of Campus Ministry, the Rev. Bill Christy, C.S.Sp. This conversation will pull in key aspects of the mission of Duquesne, the Spiritans, and the Catholic faith that undergirds the University. A key point of Duquesne’s mission is “Maintaining an ecumenical atmosphere open to diversity.” The three main principles of the Spiritan charism are living open to the Spirit, walking with those on the margins, and committing to authentic relationships. The resources below start to help us understand how the Catholic faith and Catholic social teaching informs our understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion. I look forward to hearing your thoughts about how all of this comes together to help us improve services to our students and the campus community.
