Duquesne Music Therapy In the News!

Check out this recent article from NPR highlighting the work of UPMC Children's Hospital music therapists Nicole Steele and Kory Antonacci. In the article, Duquesne professor Dr. Noah Potvin also discusses the research-based evidence supporting the effectiveness of music therapy in reducing anxiety and pain, and how the profession is working towards understanding these outcomes.

Mid-Atlantic Region of the AMTA

The mission of the Mid-Atlantic Region of the American Music Therapy Association (MARATMA) is to advance public awareness of the benefits of music therapy, to increase access to quality music therapy services, and to provide support to its members in the Mid-Atlantic region. 

Certification Board for Music Therapists 

The Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) is an autonomous certifying agency that grants the credential Music Therapist – Board Certified (MT-BC) to music therapists who have demonstrated the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to practice at the current level of the profession. This organization is also working in conjunction with AMTA on the State Recognition Operational Plan to help states achieve recognition for the music therapy profession and the MT-BC credential required for competent practice.
