Software Download

  • There are software packages to help you with writing. 

    Computing and Technology Services (CTS) licenses and supports a variety of software products. Start with developing familiarity with EndNote for managing your citations. This link (Software Catalog) contains the list of software supported by CTS.

Copyright Help

  • Copyright & Fair Use by Maureen Diana Sasso: This guide will give you a crash course in acquiring reprint permissions and have many useful links
  • Learn more about U.S Copyright law from the U.S Copyright Office
  • If you are looking for an easy way to acquire reprint permissions, check out the Copyright Clearance Center
  • In some cases, your use may qualify as fair use under the guidelines in section 107 of the U.S. Copyright Code. Duquesne provides a fair use checklist you can use to document your fair use analysis.

    • If your use meets the fair use criteria, fill out the checklist and retain it for your records.
    • If your use does not meet the fair use criteria, get permission before using the copyrighted material. Include copies of all permissions with your ETD filing.

 

Research Help

Students desiring to utilize surveys, experiments, or other instruments involving human subjects must have prior approval from the University’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) for the Protection of Human Subjects. Contact the IRB Chair for the appropriate Approval Forms. Information is available at Office of Research.
