What is Ethical Research?

The American Sociological Association (ASA) abides by a Code of Ethics that sets forth principles and ethical standards that underlie sociologist's professional responsibilities and conduct. They should be used as guidelines when examining everyday professional activities. The Code provides guidance on issues that sociologists may encounter in their professional work.

Ethical research involves professional competenceintegrity, professional and scientific responsibilityrespect, and social responsibility.
