Welcome
Welcome to the RefWorks Guides and Resources! RefWorks is a bibliographic management tool that will allow you to save and organize your references, as well as create bibliographies and format your in-text citations while writing your papers. This page is a collection of written guides, videos, and other information to help you become familiar with using RefWorks.

RefWorks 2.0
If you have used RefWorks in the past, you may notice some changes when you log in. Gumberg Library has made the transition to the newest version of RefWorks: Refworks 2.0. Here are answers to some common questions about the switch to RefWorks 2.0:
Q: Why does everything look different?
A: RefWorks is now RefWorks 2.0. The changes are meant to make navigating the RefWorks menus more intuitive.
Q: Do I need a new username and password? How about the group code?
A: Nothing has changed about how you access RefWorks. However, in preparation for elimination of group codes, RefWorks is sending out emails asking users whose RefWorks usernames match someone else’s at another institution to go into their RefWorks account and change their username.
Q: How do I change my username?
A: Changing your username takes only a few seconds. Simply log in to RefWorks, click on the “Update Profile” link in the upper right corner, and choose a new username (we recommend using your email address).
Q: Are my references still there?
A: Yes! Nothing from your account in the prior version of RefWorks was lost or changed.
Q: How can I learn more about using RefWorks 2.0?
A: Sign up for a RefWorks instruction session or view the instruction session handout. You can also view a webinar from RefWorks about making the transition. Please contact the reference desk at Gumberg Library at 412.396.6133 if you have additional questions.
IE 9 Information
It has been reported that users are unable to enter anything in the Title field when creating/editing references in RefWorks using Internet Explorer 9.
IE 9 has a new feature that allows users to set a site as downwardly compatible. Turning on the compatibility view should fix this error (Tools > Compatibility View).
