Shalom!

Shalom!

According to the Oxford Companion to Philosophy (New Edition), "Judaism is a culture, a nation and ethnicity, and a historical tradition as well as a religion." It is also reflected in a philosophy. So all these aspects of Judaism and the life of the Jews are bound up together. This makes the separating out of various topics regarding the Jews, their life, and thought for the sake of creating a research guide a bit arbitrary. But it is also necessary in order to get a handle on a vast amount of information. This means that, in using this guide to research a topic, you may want to use the resources on multiple tabs because of the close interrelationship of the topics.

This research guide is designed to link Duquesne University researchers with the wealth of materials available to them in Jewish Studies. The topics currently covered by this guide include:

  • General reference works, print and electronic
  • History
  • Religion
  • Social Life
  • Philosophy
  • Literature
  • The Holocaust
  • Antisemitism
  • Interfaith Dialogue
  • Rabbi Herman Hailperin Collection
  • Links to important Pittsburgh area websites

This guide provides links that will connect you to:

  • Reference Works, both electronic and print
  • Links that run searches for books (print and electronic) in the online catalog
  • Links to appropriate journal databases
  • Selected high-quality websites

Use the tabs that run across the top of the guide to see the different kinds of resources available on each topic.
