Introduction to Research: Finding Facts
Vocabulary List
Accuracy - freedom from mistake or error
Authority - a person with special knowledge
Background - information needed to understand a problem or situation
Basic - of the simplest kind or at the simplest level
Citation – something that shows where you found a piece of information
Currency – the quality of being new
Document - a paper or computer file that gives information about something
Download – to move or copy (a file, program, etc.) from a usually larger computer system to another computer or device
Encyclopedia - a book or set of books giving information about all areas of knowledge
Evaluate - to form an opinion of the amount, value or quality of something after thinking about it carefully
Fact – a thing that is known to be true, especially when it can be proved
Information – facts or details about somebody/something
Purpose - the reason why something is done or used
Reference Source - something (such as a book or encyclopedia) that can be used to find information about a topic
Relevance - a close connection with the subject you are discussing or the situation you are thinking about
Source - a person, book, or website that gives information
Trustworthy – something that you believe to be good, honest, sincere
