What is a Literature Review?
A literature review is an exploration of research that combines both summaries and analysis of relevant literature, while linking to your own purpose and rationale. A literature review informs the reader of the subject area, while giving you, the writer, authority and credibility.
A literature review also acts as foundation for your own research project by bringing attention to the "gaps" in existing research, therefore providing justification for further research on a topic.
A good literature review is well-written, gathers from many relevant sources, identifies gaps and limitations in existing research, and shows your awareness and insight of differing arguments, theories, and approaches.
