African Studies: A Resource Guide: Welcome!

Gumberg Library

African Studies

Welcome to this research guide supporting African Studies. It will connect you to all sorts of resources on peoples dwelling in Africa as well as in the African Diaspora. You will find anthropological and sociological, political and historical, religious and philosophical, health, business and economic, as well as literary, musical and artistic information here. Click on the tabs that run across the top of this guide to access information on the various topics.

While the information sources we point you to on each tab are different, the format on each tab is the same. When you click on a tab you will see links to:

  • Important individual print and electronic reference works to help you get started with research, as well as links to collections of electronic reference works
  • Links that search the DUQSearch online catalog for books
  • Databases for magazine, newspaper, and journal articles
  • Reliable websites.

If at any time in your research your need help, click on the Ask Gumberg link on the menu bar at the top of the screen.
