Borrowing From Gumberg: Guest Borrowers

Guest Borrowing with The Gumberg Library

The Gumberg Library maintains a number of agreements to allow individuals who are not affiliated with Duquesne University to access the library's facilities and to borrow materials from Gumberg's collections. All reciprocal and special borrowers must adhere to library policies and hours of service.

Print this form, have it completed by an authorized staff member at your home library, then bring it to the Gumberg Circulation Desk once it is completed.

If you are a faculty member with OCLC Borrowing Privileges from one of the participating universities, please stop by the Gumberg Circulation Desk to register your account for borrowing and obtain your borrowing card.

If you are a library user from one of the following libraries, please contact the Gumberg Library Circulation Desk for more information regarding borrowing:

- The Trinity School for Ministry
- The Pittsburgh Theological Seminary
- The specialized collections of the Byzantine Catholic Seminary
You must present a current institutional ID in order to check out materials.
Please refer to the following information depending on your current special borrower status:
Clergy and Religious Borrowers

A letter of introduction is required and can be submitted by emailing or in person to the Circulation Manager.

▶ The letter must state their affiliation within a diaconate or religious educational institution, their purpose for using the Gumberg collections, and the length of time needed for material access.
Curriculum Center Special Borrowers

Local preschool, pre-K, and K-12 charter, cyber, and religious schools who have made prior arrangements with the Curriculum Center may arrange to borrow materials from Gumberg.

▶ A dated letter of introduction, printed on the institution's letterhead, must be sent to the Curriculum Center Coordinator. Letter must include purpose for using collections, as well as authorized personnel who should be granted privileges.

Saint Anthony's School Programs

Students from St. Anthony's School are required to show a Duquesne University issued ID to register for borrowing privileges.

➝ Counselors of St. Anthony's are permitted to fill out the Reciprocal and Special Borrower's registration form for students as needed.
Other Special Borrowers

Other special borrowing requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Contact to inquire.

Non-Duquesne Borrowing Privileges

Circulation Privileges for Non-Duquesne Borrowers

  • Special and guest borrowers may borrow up to twenty (20) items.
    • Books circulate for 28 days with one renewal for 28 days.
    • AV Materials, manipulatives, and kits circulate for 14 days with one renewal for 14 days.
  • Special and guest borrowers are not permitted to place holds on materials, check out library equipment, study rooms, reserve material, or special collections items.
  • Borrowing privileges will be suspended when overdue fines exceed $5.00.
  • Borrowing privileges can be terminated at any time at the discretion of Library Adminstration.
