Sierra How-To Guide: Check In

Left Tab Menu

In the left menu options, there is a tab for Check-In.

Checking In Under User Account

Why use this instead of the separate Check-In function?

  • You can check in overdue items and give the user a tally of what they owe.
  • You can verify if any other overdue items are still on the account.
  • If they are picking up holds or checking out other materials, there is no need to switch between functions.

You still need to check the user's ID before sharing account information!
Checking items in: Select Check Out from the Function menu, then click the Check In tab. Scan the barcodes. As materials are checked in, the user account information will display, including remaining overdues and accumulated fines.

Return receipts: Another nice feature is that Sierra also gives you the option to print a return receipt for a user.

Check the Print receipt box. The system may prompt you to select a printer. Select either the local printer to print a paper receipt, or Email to Patron to email the receipt to the email listed in the user's account.

Finally, let's review how to edit a user's account information.
